Remote control, real impact

At TMC Compressors, we’ve spent decades developing compressors designed specifically for the marine environment. But hardware is only part of the story. Our commitment to innovation also includes software, performance simulations, and remote monitoring. All aimed at improving service efficiency and reliability.

Smarter marine service through technology

Remote monitoring plays a growing role in our company’s strategy to reduce downtime and provide better support for crews in solving technical issues on board, states John Arne Brekke, Technical Director at TMC Compressors.

—We’ve developed unique systems that allow us to monitor compressor performance remotely. This gives crews and operators valuable insight 24/7 and enables faster troubleshooting and more targeted service, Brekke explains.

Traditionally, engineers on board have relied on routine manual checks every few weeks in challenging conditions deep in the engine room to monitor equipment status.

— Remote monitoring complements this by handling much of the diagnostics. It means better data, fewer surprises, and stronger support for the crew.

Several benefits for all parties

The benefits include reduced need for onboard inspections, better preparation for service engineers, and in many cases, the ability to solve issues from shore.

Our service personnel can often identify and resolve issues remotely, before even boarding the vessel. This saves time and cost, while also reducing emissions from unnecessary travel.

In a broader perspective, the insights gained from remote monitoring can be analyzed to ensure compressors run optimally, cutting energy consumption and boosting system performance, with clear benefits for long-term sustainability.

A team of highly skilled specialists

—We have an incredibly talented team across disciplines. From mechanical engineering to data science. Backed by years of operational and service experience,, their ability to combine deep domain knowledge with smart digital tools is what sets us apart.

Whether it’s running simulations, analysing performance data, or supporting crews from halfway across the world, TMC continues to push the boundaries of what marine compressors can do.

—Ultimately, our goal is plain and simple to make life easier for the people who rely on our compressors and to ensure that they perform, wherever they are in the world, concludes John Arne Brekke.
