Cosco Shipping (Qidong) Offshore has picked TMC Compressors to deliver a complete marine compressed air system to a shuttle tanker the Chinese yard is constructing for Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT).

As part of its contract, TMC will supply a complete marine compressed air system including instrument and service air compressors.

“Energy efficiency and lowest possible operating cost is what all shipowners strive for, and that is what we are emulating with our marine compressors,” says Hans-Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.

TMC will deliver the compressed air system to COSCO’s Quidong yard in the Jiangsu province of China. Here it will be installed on board a newbuild shuttle tanker – NB 1252 – that has a cargo capacity of 170,500 cubic metres.

In October this year, TMC announced that it had been contracted to deliver its Smart Air compressors to a KNOT shuttle tanker that is being built by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan).

“KNOT has been a highly important end-customer over many years. We are delighted to support both them and COSCO once again,” adds Tanum.

TMC designs marine compressed air systems solely for offshore and marine use. The company is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
