4 June 2026 – TMC Compressors (TMC) has been awarded a contract by MODEC to supply a large-capacity marine compressed air system to the Essequibo 1899 that is currently undergoing conversion and construction.

Under the contract, TMC will supply a complete large-capacity compressed air system, consisting of air compressors, air dryers, filters and control system, meeting the strengthened air quality requirements for utility and instrument air consumers onboard the FPSO.

“The Essequibo 1899 FPSO will be spread-moored approximately 200 kilometres offshore Guyana. It goes without saying that the less equipment and personnel you need to send this far offshore, the better it is for both the FPSO operator’s operating expenditure and environmental footprint. That is why we will deliver compressors that the on-board crew can maintain themselves, without an external service technician,” says Hans-Petter Tanum, TMC's director of sales and business development.

Further, TMC’s compressors are built on a technology platform that enables low energy consumption, low operating costs and low emissions to air.

“Our philosophy has always been that designing and manufacturing compressors solely for marine and offshore use will give a more reliable product compared to compressors that have originally been developed for land-based applications and since marinized. We have remained true to this approach for the past 30 years, and we can proudly say that TMC’s compressors are intended to last the lifetime of the FPSO,” adds Hans-Petter Tanum.

The FPSO will be deployed at the Hammerhead field offshore Guyana, with an initial average production capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil per day. It will be the second FPSO operating in Guyana to feature TMC’s marine compressed air system.

The Hammerhead project is intended to be the seventh of multiple developments in the Stabroek block, approximately 200 kilometres offshore Guyana, in water depth of approximately 1,025 meters.

TMC is headquartered in Oslo, Norway. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract.
